This is a superb original painting by Ali Craig.The painting is very well framed and ready to hang.Ali was born in Belfast and has been painting for as long as she can remember. She studied in England and has a First Degree in the History of Art and a Masters in Conservation. After qualifying and working for a period of time in London, including in the Tate Gallery, her love for Northern Ireland drew her home. Her training in Conservation has given her a great understanding of, and deep passion for, materials and a special love of paint effects. She works mostly in acrylic, and favours a direct technique of painting with frequent use of a palette knife.

Artist of the Month

Born in the Glens of Antrim, 1910. He was renowned for his landscape and figurative work. He briefly attended the Belfast Technical College, but was essentially a self-taught artist.

James H. Craig encouraged the young McAuley after judging an art competition at a Feis in the Glens of Antrim during his formative years. McAuley better then any other artist, managed to capture the light in the Glens. His first one-man exhibition was at the Master’s Hand Gallery, Ballymena.

His works can be found in many private collections and in the Ulster Museum.

Charles McAuley died on 30th September 1999.
